In 1997 SvMet Engineering and the Feng Hsin Iron & Steel Co. started a long term agreement for the development of SBQ grades in their plant. Since then SvMet has introduced novel ideas and technologies at FH. The result of such cooperation has been the dramatic increase of SBQ products and more importantly the “attainment” of the necessary quality of the SBQ products for the Taiwan market. Amongst the most important developments that made possible this new presence of Feng Hsin Iron & Steel Co. in the Taiwan Market are the SIFC and Nitrex processes. The SIFC process allowed for clean steel to be produced at their No. Steel Plant. The Nitrex Process, although not granted a patent yet, allowed Feng Hsin Iron & Steel Co. to produce the correct technological properties for as rolled bars and bar in coil for the large bolts and nuts market in Taiwan. Both the SIFC and Nitrex processes are developments that were conceived and developed by SvMet Engineering
