SvMet has successfully implemented the "Nitrex" process at Feng Hsin Iron & Steel Co. LTD.

 

This process allows the production of LCAK steel via Electric Steel Making with high Nitrogen for Cold Heading  applications products.

 

This is a very important advance in steel product technology because it allows non-integrated steel companies to actually offer products in the hitherto BOF market of the past. The lack of DRI or some other pre-reduced charge is not necessary at all. In other words the nitrogen content of steel with this process can be anywhere between 80 to 140 ppm.  Below a few examples of current products made from LCAK of Feng Hsin Iron & Steel Co. are shown. Speaker tips are quite a difficult product to make because it requires a minimum of 80% upset test. (See figures below)
